The Humss strand revolves around improving a students reading,writing and speaking skills because if you haven’t noticed yet,people who choose this strand are aspiring to become members of the society who deals with a lot of people.Improvement of these skills are crucial for them have effective communication with others.
Many Humss students would attest that they’ve heard “Humss Ka lang”for once in their life.This isn’t a new trend since most institutions,corporation abd even famillies haved looked down on the liberal arts and social sciences courses of years.Teacher think that it’s nothing more than a prerequisites to law school whilst parents contest that there are no feasible careers for this major.
HumSS stands for Humanities and Social Science which means that it encompasses not just political science,but literature,anthropology,philosophy and such.Therefore,when one is under HumSS it doesn’t automatically mean you aspire to be a politician or a lawyer.
If you are thinking that being a HumSS student is a piece of a cake because little to no math or science involved,teachers will load you with readings and handouts like there’s no tomorrow.With subjects like Creative Writing and Creative Nonfiction,you’ll learn how to write poetry,fiction,and drama.
Some might see that it is a boring strand because of its pecialization subjects like Philippine Politics and Governance,World Religions and Belief Systems,and Social Science but it isn’t if you’re constantly curious about the world.Curiosity may have killed the cat,but it was the satisfaction that brought it back.
